HubSpot is a freemium SaaS platform comprising five hubs, or individual platforms: Sales, Marketing, CMS, Service, and Operations. Hubs can be purchased individually or bundled together into a larger package. Although HubSpot is not a dedicated project management software provider, useful project management tools can be found throughout each of the hubs, particularly in Marketing and Operations.

HubSpot isn’t a conventional project management platform, but rather a collection of platforms (Sales, Marketing, CMS, Service, Operations) that each include useful project management tools among their many features.
Here are some of the top project management features you’ll find throughout the platform.
Workflow extensions. HubSpot’s seamless integrations enable team members to trigger actions in third-party apps – e.g., a Slack message, Zoom invite, or Asana task – from within their HubSpot workflows.
Team management and permissions. Team leaders can quickly view and manage agent permissions, status, and availability from across the entire team.
Data sync and cleanup. HubSpot Operations keeps your apps and data in sync in a no-code package. It automatically fixes date properties, format names, and more using out-of-the-box automations.
Pre-built templates. As an example, HubSpot Marketing offers marketing to-do lists that walk you through every step of common marketing projects, e.g. building a newsletter, creating a content offer, and redesigning your website.
Dashboards. HubSpot’s custom drag-and-drop dashboards provide a single source of truth for all your marketing, sales, and service data. Premium subscribers have the option of combining up to 300 dashboards for a bird’s-eye view of operations.
When you customize reports or analyze data in your HubSpot analytics tools, you get to choose from up to eight styles depending on the data in your report: bar, column, line, area, doughnut, pie, summary, and table.
The HubSpot App Marketplace currently offers 45 third-party integrations, most of them built by HubSpot itself to ensure seamless connectivity.
For example, the HubSpot integration for Gmail lets you log emails from Gmail in HubSpot CRM with one click, track email opens and clicks in real time, and access HubSpot tools (e.g., templates, sequences, meetings) in your inbox.
Other popular tools include Outlook, HubSpot for WordPress, Google Ads, Slack, Mailchimp, Zoom, LinkedIn and LinkedIn Ads, Salesforce, and more.
In addition, HubSpot offers access to 1,000+ productivity apps through a dedicated integration with Zapier.
As mentioned, HubSpot “hubs” can be purchased separately or all together as part of the CRM Suite. There’s also an option to bundle together two or more packages of your choice.
The sheer number of options can make it difficult to find the right combination for your organization, and we can’t really do this topic justice in the space we have here. All we’ll say is this: HubSpot offers incredible capabilities for your business, but you may not need (or want to pay for) everything, so you’re best off speaking to a HubSpot representative to customize a package to your needs.

HubSpot’s CRM Suite is a complex platform with lots of different tools, and as a result it requires a lengthy setup process. Judging from the free tutorials on the HubSpot website, you can expect to spend at least a week setting it up before getting to the point where you can invite team members to join.
When you purchase a Professional or Enterprise plan, you’ll automatically be charged an onboarding fee in the range of a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. This fee covers site migration and training for your staff.
HubSpot products are hosted with cloud infrastructure providers with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications, among others. The certified protections include dedicated security staff, strictly managed physical access control, and video surveillance.
Sessions between you and your portal are protected with in-transit encryption using 2,048-bit or better keys and TLS 1.0 or above. Users with modern browsers will use TLS 1.2 or 1.3.
HubSpot says it tests for potential vulnerabilities on a recurring basis. We run static code analysis, and infrastructure vulnerability scans.
The good news about using a large platform like HubSpot for your project management needs is that the support is 24/7. All CRM Free accounts are supported by the Community, an online forum where certified HubSpot experts answer questions to all sorts of problems. All Starter accounts are supported by Community, email, and chat. All Professional and Enterprise accounts are supported by Community, email, chat, and phone.

-Aurelien Blaha, Chief Marketing Officer, Digimind
“When I log into HubSpot, I can see what our vital metrics are on custom dashboards. Data on total sessions, sources and channels are available in real-time.”
-Chris Thompson, Marketing Manager, Wellers
HubSpot is a powerful tool that aligns your sales, marketing, and operations teams. It isn’t like conventional project management software, so if you’re only looking for automated workflows, file sharing, and collaboration tools, then you’re better off getting these from a dedicated provider. However, if your business has teams across a range of functions (e.g. sales, marketing, operations) that struggle to work with one another, then HubSpot can help break down those siloes and grow your business.
