It’s official: Monday.com is the hottest name in project management software, thanks to a 2021 IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange valuing it at $6.8 billion. The foundation of the company’s cloud-based software is its work operating system (Work OS), where teams can build custom workflow apps from more than 200 templates. In short, Monday.com enables teams to run, track, and manage all types of tasks, processes, and projects.

Everything on Monday.com begins with a board or table (although calling them “boards” may be understating it – they are very visually appealing). Start with one of dozens of templates in your category (e.g. marketing, sales & CRM, design, software development, inventory tracking), then customize the template by dragging and dropping any of the 30+ columns on offer. Popular templates include a campaign dashboard, sales pipeline, project approval process, content calendar, contact list, and more.
Once your custom board has been set up, you and your team will be ready to take advantage of a myriad of features including:
Real-time updates. Groups, items, sub-items and updates are synced in real time to keep everything within the context of your project, workflow, or process. Status buttons reflect the real-time status of your team’s actual work.
File sharing. Centralizes all of your files in one secure cloud-based platform supporting all formats. Client and team permissions can be managed easily and instantly. Documents can be found in seconds by searching by tag, name, time, file type, or other characteristics.
Collaboration. Team members can share files and comments in a central workflow, accelerating the feedback loop. Online files (e.g. G-Suite, Figma) can be embedded and edited without having to leave the Monday.com platform.
Automations. Set up code-free automations to avoid repetitive tasks and save time for production work. Automations include status updates, email notification, due date alerts, task assignments, time tracking, progress updates, and more. For example, you might set a rule that says “When project budget is approved, notify project owner” or “Every Monday at 09:00, create a new group: This week”, or “When due date arrives, move item to Phase B.”
Dashboards. Monday.com offers tools to create custom dashboards and track progress, timelines, and budgets at a glance. Dashboards display a clear breakdown of each team member’s progress and their capacity to take on extra work, allowing managers to make data-driven decisions. Reports can be customized to give a high-level overview or show how everyone is performing down to the most granular details.
Monday.com offers eight customizable, configurable, and scalable data visualization options. Essentially, you can view your data however you want – from granular and colorful to basic and quiet. All images are exportable so you can share them with people outside your organization.
